pandas_for_dummies
Amos I'm waiting for my Soju money
“…no way, it can’t be that easy!”
Exclaimed a friend of mine when I sent him my silly attempt to get him to learn Python and, by extension, the pandas library. This friend of mine, let’s call him Amos because his bosses follow me on Twitter, is a wizard with Microsoft Excel. Rightfully so because he works as an analyst at ACME Inc. (again, can’t reveal where he works) and as such, he deals with a ton of data daily.
I mentioned to him that he could provide more value to his team if he knew some Python, and he shrugged, telling me nothing beats Excel. He’s not wrong, but I love a challenge, especially when it comes with a reward, because he owes me 2 bottles of Soju if I convince him to learn Python and pandas in a short amount of time.
Now, I am not a whiz kid; I REALLY just started writing software for business purposes this year, 2025. Before this, it was crypto trading bots that lost me a bit of money, and a few hackathons that won me some change, so take this with a pinch of salt, some lemon, and a shot of tequila. I’m not displaying expertise; I just have a Soju to win and a point to prove.
Anyway, this GitHub repo is my decision to add more and more for_dummies stuff to it, as weekend (or otherwise longer) projects.
Let me know what you think of pandas_for_dummies!

You should probably make this a series, where you try helping people move some things from excel to python, something like yeah let's do this thing that you used to do in excel but with python (pandas) and see how easy it is.
